Issue 3 - Elemental Discoveries

by David Bradley

Racing for the epothilone anticancer drugs

Get smart with oxygen - elemental approach to mental health

A chemical oddity - organic compounds

This was (obviously) one of the earliest issues in the Elemental Discoveries series. Originally, posted following publication in the magazine RSC young chemists' magazine New Elements (previously Gas Jar). Gas Jar was restyled in the mid-nineties by David Bradley and the RSC's membership development officer at the time Helen Pain. David suggested the name New Elements and also the idea of a regular column covering the latest developments in chemical sciences presented in a readable and interesting way.

The column went from strength to strength and its conversion into a regular online column was perhaps inevitable. Elemental Discoveries first appeared on the net in various incarnations on the fledgling freenet sites hosted by universities in the US in 1995 and then migrated to David's own webspace with the ISP Enterprise (hence the remnants of the original site are still to be found linked to as various files within http://homepages.enterprise.net/bradley these are no longer actively updated and if you are linking to those pages please update your Favorites to link to Elemental Discoveries at www.sciencebase.com - thanks.
