Two files containing a comprehensive listing of generic and brand names of thousands of pharmaceuticals allows you to get the spelling right and work out wish drug names are generic and which proprietary.
   The software dictionary works in Word for Mac or Windows checking the spelling of brand names and generics as you type.
   The developers, DiscDrive, say Medictionary has in excess of 3400 names for the most popular prescription and over-the-counter medicines and more than 3500 generic names using the British Approved Name convention of products on the UK market or currently in development.
   Simple installation is, amazingly for these days, from a single floppy disc. The brand and generic files it contains are separate entities which allow you to distinguish between one type of name and the other.
    If you work with words in a medical technical environment then this will be a boon and save precious minutes checking through the likes of MIMS and the British Pharmacopeia.
