A new type of battery based on nanowires is being developed at Stanford University. The research promised battery life 10 times that of current (pardon the pun) batteries

Your last semicolon, though, should have been a comma.

Well spotted P! That should've been a semicolon; as opposed to a comma.

"Avoid frequent full discharges, regular partial discharges and an occasional full discharge is better. "

Here's some better advice: don't use commas to separate complete sentences.

I think these are some great tips and I plan to practice them all the time. I have two batteries for my MacBook Pro and I am really glad that I do because there is nothing worse than running out of juice when you are nowhere near an outlet. I have an iPhone as well so it is important that I treat that battery right. The battery is a lot to replace and it is very hard to do it yourself. Thanks for the advice.

Yep, I had spotted the irony...I guess it's part of the reason the trade started calling them notebooks rather than laptops...I'm sure there's a reason why the fan is on the underside of my laptop and not venting out the side, but for the life of me I cannot think of it...

don’t use a laptop on your lap (how’s that for irony)

via Snopes:

men who use laptops on their laps for an hour raise their scrotal temperature by as much as 5 degrees. ... such a temperature increase can lead to a significant reduction in sperm production. The study concluded long-term use of laptops by teenage boys and men could be damaging.

Another reason not to use the laptop on the lap.
