This is about being able to find information deep within databases and across the web. How does defining the calcium ion or a methane molecule beyond our current definitions help with that? This is about adding meta information to chemistry documents so that we can search and find relevant information and pull out all the information on atoms, molecules and ions we like but at a richer level in terms of the information.
