Cholesterol Lowering Website

Posted in Health at 9:06 am by David Bradley -- Click to comment

Unilever, makers of purportedly cholesterol-lowering butter substitute, pro-activ, obviously took my sarcastic post on the subject of health supplements advertising to heart.

They have, this week, announced the launch of a website covering the science behind the alleged health benefits of plant sterols extruded into plastic tubs and died yellow ready for spreading on your morning toast. Lots of nice pictures though, and a registration system through which health professionals can login and grab information for their lectures and talks. http://www.proactivscience.com. The PISS (Plant Sterol Information Service) is well designed though and includes fascinating news on when is the best time to drink your cholesterol-lowering yoghurt mini-drink, for instance. (Apparently, with a meal for besst results, Yum, yum.)
