Edzard Ernst alerted me to his recent commentary on "herbal" detox treatments:

"There is no evidence to support certain 'detox' treatments, as the advertising watchdog has just ruled, and their promotion spreads a poisonous message which is anti-science, anti-evidence and could worsen people's health, not improve it, argues Professor Ernst."

In fact, having told you not to bother with detox, there is a warning in today's news about how one particular so-called detox program could lead to brain damage

According to the BBC: "A woman has been awarded more than £800,000 after she suffered permanent brain damage while on a detox diet. The High Court heard Dawn Page, 52, began vomiting uncontrollably after starting The Amazing Hydration Diet."

The "Amazing" diet involves drinking an extra two litres of water a day and reducing one's salt (NaCl) intake significantly.

I'm afraid not. These might be called by "detoxes" in the marketing spiel on your site, but I'm afraid, they are not detoxifying your body in any shape or form. They may in some way help "mop up" the metabolites of certain drugs that would otherwise linger in one's bloodstream and so mask them from standard drug tests, but the byproducts of that process must still be processed by the body and ultimately excreted through the kidneys, there is no two ways about.

Drinking lots of water (and tap is just fine, by the way) is the only way to "detox".

Maybe you're quite right about a glass of water, but detox kits are not bad either...
