Nicotine, a powerful central nervous system stimulant found naturally in the tobacco leaf, is classified as a drug. Nicotine is one of the main ingredients in tobacco. In higher doses, nicotine is extremely poisonous. It is commonly used as an insecticide.

“It is commonly used as insecticide.” Indeed, that is the reason it is present naturally in tobacco plants, it is a toxic alkaloid that can ward off plant-eating insects or kill them before they do too much harm to the plant being attacked.

This is good news. If ibogaine’s potency is widely accepted, then we should think of its inclusion in our alcohol treatment programs. I am specifically excited about the possibility of a non-side effect ibogaine drug that will surely promote convenience among our patients. –Gen

There is, of course, no such thing as a “non-side-effect drug”. Everything you ingest or inject has effects on your body beyond the immediately apparent. However, if further safety and efficacy trials demonstrate proof of concept with ibogaine, then it should certainly be pursued more keenly as a potential treatment for addiction.

My husband took several different anti-depressants and “addiction blockers” to get rid of the urge to drink. Not only were they not effective, but they often times made him sick and he would take other prescription drugs to cover the effects. The only thing that ever worked was a no pill approach to curing his addiction. My husband is a recent graduate of the Narconon Vista Bay program, and I could not be more proud of him. For the first time in 30 years he is free of any and all chemicals, and our relationship is truly working for the first time in a very long time. If you want to treat addiction properly, go to a prgram like Narconon Vista Bay, http://drugrehab.net/program.php

Interesting comment Lena. I suspect that you are right, provided there is the will to detox, then rehabilitation programs are probably the most effective way forward. Good luck to you and your husband.
