@Dentists I'm afraid having a balanced diet is not going to prevent all health conditions from occurring over time, you've heard of pathogens, right. Moreover, who's to say what a balanced diet is anyway?

I think that we should really have a varied and balanced meal everyday. This way, we can prevent any health condition to occur overtime. I think we should not forget to exercise or have a regular physical activity to maintain a healthy body. I think they are right about saying that it is really hard to change habit immediately, but if you are determined to do so, then you can do it, even though it takes few steps ahead.

Point taken. I do think there is the potential to not go the whole hog, as it were, if one begins only by taking small steps. Similar problems face smokers who try to "cut down" rather than quitting outright.

I read that report and while I don't believe everything it says, the whole world of nutrition is so vast and has so much information, it becomes overwhelming. I am in great trouble because of my past eating habits. So I considered this site a good place to start and then refine as I go along. I don't think it's worth criticizing. If and when I can conquer eating the more positive items and eliminating the negatives, then I can go to the next step. I feel a lot of people with eating problems probably feel the same way. Just give me a place to start that I can manage. Then when I accomplish that hurdle then I can master the next step. Eliminating Campbell's condensed soup and french fries and satisfying that hunger with a sweet potato or a banana is a stepping off point without being overwhelmed. At the risk of being trite, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither can undoing bad eating habits be.
