I'm afraid I know little about nuclear waste. However, I do now a great deal about the production of such waste, having working in the US nuclear industry for over twenty years. The inside world of nuclear is much different than what's commonly portrayed by boosters and detractors alike. I've put it into a novel that's available at no cost to readers at http://RadDecision.blogspot.com (and now also in paperback at online retailers). My homepage comments from readers are very favorable. "Rad Decision" has also been endorsed by Stewart Brand, founder of The Whole Earth Catalog, whose article "Environmental Heresies" in the MIT Technology Review called for a new look at nuclear. You might find this book to be useful background reading as you cover this area further.
