Recent Volcano Eruptions

Posted in Environment, Science at 8:59 am by David Bradley -- 2 Comments; add your comment

erupting volcanoesGiven the number of Sciencebase visitors looking for information on recent volcano eruptions and currently erupting volcanoes, it seemed sensible to set up a page that would provide the latest information on that very subject. By syndicating the latest announcements and alerts on recent volcano eruptions from the University of North Dakota website (Volcano World), Sciencebase provides a quick route to the information you need in this explosive area.

Volcano World is a collaborative higher education, K-12, and public outreach project of the North Dakota and Oregon Space Grant Consortia administered by the Department of Geosciences at Oregon State University. You can find the regularly updated list of recent erupting volcanoes here.

Could you list five of the most recent volcano eruptions (worldwide)?

I guess I could list them, but the newsfeed syndicated on Sciencebase provides the very latest on recent volcano eruptions. So readers can pull out the top five list for themselves as it is constantly changing as new volcanoes come online and others close down. Meanwhile, I’ll have a look for another feed that does just that and see if we can run that too on this page.

Meanwhile, here’s a page that does the job without an RSS feed - http://www.volcano.si.edu/reports/usgs/
