I just had a nice e-chat with Prof Brian Cox of LHC and Solar System fame about virginal Norse spirits and seasonal changes. Apparently, he was keyboard player with 90s hipsters D:ream, so he's definitely on the sci-musos list!

Music and a scientific mind definitely mesh well, although some of my uber-musical friends who aren't in the last sciencebased would probably disagree. But, just look at all the mathematics that underpins classical music, scales, chords, structure and then all those progressive rock bands with their 9/4 and 7/8 time signatures. Anyway, poke me on Facebook...happy to connect with a fellow chemist musical or otherwise.

A most enjoyable post. This is something I have also observed over the years and wondered if I'm missing out on something. I've always loved music though don't play an instrument and you most definitely don't want to hear me wailing, I mean singing! Thank you for writing this post. Its great to know of more musical scientists esp if I can Twitter with them ;) I've now also become a fan on FB.
Merry Christmas and all the best for 2010.
