Robert Noyce Google Doodle

Robert Norton Noyce (December 12, 1927 — June 3, 1990) co-founder of Fairchild Semiconductor (1957) and Intel (1968) was known as “the Mayor of Silicon Valley” decades before that FourSquare nonsense came into being. He is also credited (together with Jack Kilby) for the invention of the integrated circuit, or microchip, which essentially fuelled the personal computer revolution and, of course, gave Silicon Valley its name. Today’s Google Doodle celebrates what would have been his 84th birthday.
